Koji Fukiya Memorial Museum of Art
The famous Japanese artist Koji Fukiya was born in Shibata city in 1898. His best-known work is the painting of a bride wearing a traditional Japanese kimono. His mother was the model for that painting. The painting and his poem became the inspiration for a popular song (Hanayome Ningyo). Fukiya studied in Paris, and he combined Japanese and Western techniques. He was one of the pioneers of modern art in Japan.
